This is a very
informative site about the worlds famous explorers. It provides
details of their journeys and adventures, maps of the their routes
and articles about the different countries they visited. There is
ample material here for a class project or alternatively, the
articles could easily be adapted to make an interesting reading
comprehension to be done in class.

This is a lovely site
created by a primary school in England. There are many useful
articles about animal habitats, but in addition, there are
sections of the site which are written by the school children
themselves. The site includes very good photographs and diagrams.
In addition, there is a long list of suggestions for teachers
which include links to other useful sites and some interesting,
cross-curricular teaching ideas.

On this site,
students can compare their modern-day toys to those that children
played with hundreds of years ago. The site provides information
about the development of toys throughout history together with
information about toys and games which students may or may not be
familiar with and their inventors. One part of the site is
dedicated to classroom activities and has many suggestions and
downloadable material for teachers.

Survival

students become adventurers and have to put their survival
techniques to the test. The site provides information about what
problems they may encounter on their travels and how to overcome
them. Overall, this is a fun site which students will enjoy.

This is a great site
for children. They are guided round the site by a fun, animated
inventor who directs them to various games and activities.

Making a T-shirt

instructions. Note: some of the experiments will need adult

Birds

eat, when they hunt and so on. It is written in simple language,
so students would be able to access it by themselves and discover
some fascinating facts about birds. In addition, there is a set of

As in Egypt, Easter
Island has huge, mysterious, stone structures. This site offers
further information about these monoliths and includes a long list of
teacher resources and additional notes about the Easter Island

Volcanoes

clear diagrams depicting volcanoes and how they are formed. There
